Front Line to Homefront
Communicopia interviewed and wrote stories about 12 North Carolina certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) who served their country in the military and are now serving patients in our communities. These CRNAs are members of the North Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists (NCANA) and the series of articles was posted on the association’s website and shared on Facebook and Twitter. Their compelling stories acknowledged with gratitude what these veterans have given to their country, state and association. The stories also brought attention to a proposed rule to improve veterans’ access to timely, quality health care through the increased use of advanced practice registered nurses. The Veteran CRNA Stories: From the Front Lines to the Homefront campaign, created by Communicopia on behalf of NCANA, won a national Government Advocacy award at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists 2017 Mid-Year Assembly.
